This really isn't an URGENT posting, not a major deal...just curious. I normally use Fuji 8X or Memorex 8X, and they burn at 8X. My burner is HP640B double layer 16X. Yesterday I purchased Verbatim which says up to 16X...its very odd but those disc will burn only 4X in any program I use. At first I thought it was a fluke, but I backed up 3 different movies. Its not that big of a deal, I'm just wondering why only 4X. These disc were 14$ for 50 of them, where as the normal ones I use 8X were 22$. This is the first time I've ever used Verbatatim media. thanks
@buffster Make sure your firmware is up to date - this helps your drive w/ media and the speeds. Even though they are Verb's I would not recommend burning at 16x - 8x max. For the Fuji 8x may be okay depending on who manufactured them but the Memorex I would slow it waaay down. They are usually made by cmc one of the worst manufacturers.
Which burning programs do you have? Most will show you fimware in different areas of the prog. If you have decrypter go to tools>drive>check for firmware updates. That will take your to the firmware page to check - it will also give you your latest version #.
