I am trying to use Nero Express 3 to edit material recorded on my DVD Recorder onto a DVD/RW+. I started by using "adding video files" to copy the "vob" files to my hard disk. After the program copied the "vob" file to my hard disk, I tried to add the video file to the project. However, I received the following error: "Unable to insert ...VTS_01_1.vob".

Next I used the "Import Disc" to "Import the titles from the disc". I was able to import all four titles as mpeg files onto my hard disc. When I tried to to add the mpeg file to the project, I received the following error: "Unable to insert ...Title 01.mpg". The mpeg files seem to be fine as I was able to view them using Nero ShowTime.

Anyone know what I need to do in order to be able to import these files into the editing portion of Nero?

I do not know why you are getting these errors.

My first guesses as to why you might be having the problems...
-Does the disc need to be finalized, in the DVDRecorder?
-Does your DVD Recorder write the data using some minor form of propietary structure, which Nerovision Express does not like?

However, I have done what you are trying to do many times, and my process just adds one minor step. I first rip from the DVD recorder disc onto my hard drive. Then, this becomes my source material.

In other words, I take the burned DVD from my DVD recorder, and I rip it onto my hard drive, using DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter (both are freeware).

Then, I add the video files from the location on my hard drive. NeroVision Express 3 has never had a problem with these files.

It may be that my method just ensures that the result is truly compliant, with all of the normal file structure that is expected.

    Hope this helps,

    -Bruce
