i just got dvd rebuilder and when i installed it everything seemed to go well (free version) but when i went to point it at my VIDEO_TS folder where i ripped the dvd with dvd decrypter, it gives me some overflow error or something, and shuts the whole program down.

if i try to open a project, it looks for an .rdb file, which i also dont know where i can get.

i just want to start using this program since i am having problems with dvd shrink.

conversely, if anyone can figure out why i am being so dumb with dvd shrink or what i am doing wrong, i would love it. for the past year i have been going dvd decrypter (ripping to files) -> vob blanker (getting rid of extras) -> dvd shrink (shrinking to size, making an iso, and getting rid of audio streams) -> dvd decrypter (to burn the .iso)

a few weeks ago i started getting problems where every so often when i was shrinking a dvd with dvd shrink, halfway through the encoding process my whole computer would just shut down all of a sudden. no warnings or error messages, just all power would immediately shut off.

and then it started a few days ago doing that every single time. this is why i am looking for a new program that can shrink the files in my VIDEO_TS folder to an .ISO of the size that will fit on a DVD-R.

which brought me to DVD rebuilder. if anyone knows what i am doing wrong, or can point me in the direction of another program that would help me do the shrunken ISO step, i would be extremely grateful.

Let's do this backwards. First your computer is shutting down because it's probably overheating (see a lot of that with encoding). Check your heat sink for dust, or if it's located near a heater move it.

Second if RB's asking for .rbd files then you're trying to open a batch project which you can do if you know how to batch process (setting it to encode more than 1 movie back to back while you sleep)but you can't open a VIDEO_TS with it. Don't choose open project! For normal use you use source path to open the VIDEO_TS. Be sure to make another folder for your encoded result (name it anything that you want)and then choose work path and that's it.

Soph is right on as usual. Just wanted to point out that the free vs of rebuilder will not make an iso. You will need to upgrade to the pro vs ($25 donation) or use a proggy to convert the video_ts files to iso. Folder2iso will do it.
