Could someone point me in the direction of which firmware I need.

Ta in advance.
You will find everything you need in Eamo's FTA Library at the bottom of my post, but on second thoughts maybe you would be better off here, everything and how to >>>>>>>>>>>

Starting at the rear right hand corner count the number of slots the tuner is visible for, if it is 8 slots it's a real Red or Black box, (if it covers 12 slots you have either a real Blue box or a clone) that will need further investigation. If you use the wrong firmware on a real box it will tell you that it is wrong, my guess is you probably have a black if it is encased all black, if it is grey could be RED box.

When I try to load the latest firmware for the Max 5 Black box I get the following message: "Firmware is not fit for your receiver" I have tried everything since my box stopped working in April and I think now that the problem is that I origionally used dnupman software to Flash the box. Can you advise?
Looks like you are using the wrong firmware. Are you using the latest for a Max V, if so it looks like you in fact have a blue or red version.

IF you have an origional providers box you should get all freeview channels wether you subsctribe to your provider or not. On my providers box i get BBC& ITV and a few others that are on freeview

I assume thats what your saying or are you asking of you can get all channels on the providers box for free? if so then i think the answer is no and you need a cable box - try the big auctions site commonly known asfeebay

IF your into Reptiles Snakes Lizards etc contact me via PM for details of a frindly place to visit

I have the Eurovox Max V 2008 box and am with N*L Dublin.
Annoyed with inputting codes manually I followed the steps I found on this website to update my firmware.

I tried UFL_MaxV_Kuro3_18_04_08 but encountered whay I think is the "8% problem" and then tried UFL_MaxV_Kuro3_28_04_08.
Unfortunately that didnt fix the problem.

Instead of before where the box recognised the channels but I couldnt watch them now the box says its getting no signal.

Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?

If you have no signal it is likely to be a connection problem, check all you connections.

did you do a power scan start 290.000 and stop 403.000 and symbol rate 6887 to get all your channels back

Yes.

I connected my laptop to the eurovox box. It detected it properly (Version 2.10)
From the menue I reset factory default settings and did a powerscan.

When it finished the powerscan the first time I had no channels. I had an 8% progress bar.

First I reran the 18_04_08 again and then again at a different symbol rate. Then I ran the 28_04_08 UFL because I thought I had the 8% signal problem.

It goes through the powerscan, and appears to be scanning successfully, but when finished I have no channels.

Im worried that something went wrong during my first attempt that may have damaged the box.
On my first attempt I began a powerscan and it was progressing away for about an hour when my flatmate noticed there was a prompt "press ok to begin" so he did, and a different screen (the one Im familiar with) appeared and it did a power scan. Did he inturrupt something that was meant to happen?
