i think r4 runs smoothly only on 2gb sd... i asked this in a store and told me, the system cannot handle the 4gb sd...

I wasn't sure whether Pugg wants me to send a PM or post a reply here, so I'm doing both -

    Hello Pugg,

I bought myself the R4i SDHC card a year ago and it had always worked perfectly. But today, I updated my DSi software to 1.4E (the facebook application and such) and... the card doesn't work anymore. Always when I turn it on, "An error has occured. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for details." shows up. I've skimmed the internet for a solution, but nothing has worked so far - so I decided to contact you. Everyone is saying answering with "buy yourself a better card" but I don't have that option in my country (bought the card abroad).

2GB MicroSD card, Kingston, made in Japan
R4i SDHC Upgrade for NDSi, NDSL and NDS - came in a small red box
    NDSi software is 1.4E

    Thank you,
    Tale

    ---

Does anyone know what to do?

If the card you have doesn't have 1.4 in yellow on it then it will not work with a DSi with software 1.4.
There are pleanty of websites which will sell and ship R4 cards (and all the other slot 1 cards) all over the world

Thanks for the tip of "USE THE R4 CARD TO PLAY DS GAMES". Once I deleted the moonmemo and moonshl2 folders no more "Application halted!!" Much thanks! Works like a charm now!

Ah, thank you for answering! It's not really about where to find it, but the method of payment... I don't have a PayPal account, so it always gets so troublesome...

This is most likely caused by using the wrong 'firmware' for the card.
What type of R4 card is it? (there are about 30 different types)
What is written on the card?
Is there any website mentioned on the card or the box you got it in?

i ve tried every single one of the firmwares... My card is an R4 Upgrade Revolution. I noticed today that on the box it said Micro SDHC, so i m going to buy a micro sdhc 4 Gb tomorrow.
    On the card: www.r4i-sdhc.com

There are two versions of that card on www.r4i-sdhc.com. One has 1.4 in yellow on it, this one is compatable with DSi on 1.4 firmware, and the other card doesen't have it. If your card has the 1.4 on it then use the V1.24b kernal.

If it doesn't have the 1.4 mark then use the V1.09d kernal (I have one of these cards, it was delivered in a red box and the PCB inside the card is also red).

As regards the micro SDHC the original R4 card could only take micro SD cards up to 2Gb while the new cloned versions will work with Micro SDHC cards up to 32GB.

What type of SD card are you using? There used to be issues with these cards and Kingston SD cards made in Taiwan.

It should work with the 2GB card so try and get this working rather than buying a 4GB.
Is your card like the one I mentioned?

IT is because of the kernel. You need to download the right kernel for your r4 sdhc

you will have to d.load the firmware again and put on the chip
also make sure its the correct type
as that is most likely why its not working proper

when it is sorted make sure you make a backup copy on your computer, if it happens again

i have tried formating it with panasonic sd formater? but still doesnt seem to work :( really need it to work for my daughter.[/quote]

    Hamzy,
    questions for you;
    1. Is there a website mentioned on the card?
    2. What is the version number of the firmware (boot files) you have downloaded?
    3. Do you open up anything on the card before you try and run the games?
    4. Are the games on the 'root' of the SD card?

If you are going to use the card only for playing games then you can delete the two folders called moonmemo and moonshl2, if you have them.
