Using Winavi, I converted two 700meg files (1.4Gigs) to DVD, but the result was one full DVD (4.3Gig) with a small portion put onto a second DVD (about 106Megs), splitting the second movie clip over the 2 discs. Is there a way to ensure Winavi only converts it to fit 1 DVD, or should I look to another program? Thanks.
Use DVD Shrink (free) to compress the entire thing to fit onto 1 DVD5 disk. It'll automatically figure out the compression needed. However change the target size to "Custom" and then enter 4300 or 4350 into the size box. This prevents burning completely to the outer edge of the disk where problems often occur.
I don't use the program. Did WinAVI output AVI file to the DVDs or did it output DVD video files (MPEG2 files)?
If WinAVI will do it, have it output one ISO file to the hard disk. Since it would fit on a DL disk I don't see why it won't. Then Have DVD Shrink open that ISO file and compress the little bit needed to get down to DVD5 size.
Have a read of one of the FAQs here...http://www.winavi.com/en/support/faq/video-converter/why.htm#10 I think you may have to use the option constant video quality rather than constat video size...did you have any luck with DVD shrink at all? I am just trying it out now
