I've noticed this kind of post on the forums before but it's never been answered. I open Recode II to backup a DVD of mine and it analyzes. It comes back with what compression was needed as a percentage. So far so good. Now, when it goes to the next screen to choose what drive and what speed and so forth, that's all fine as well. It's the screen after that I get the error from. It's the screen where everything starts happening like the encoding and burning. My drive spins up, then slows down then after around 30 seconds to a minute, an error comes on that this has all failed with some can't open 0%S something as the log error. Anyone else have this problem? I have tried up to the 7.0.14b version I believe and still the problem persists. AnyDVD 5.6.3.1 I believe is the version I have used as well in the background.
DMA looks to be enabled. How do I check ASPI though? I heard that AnyDVD doesn't work properly with Nero 7 either. I don't know if the newest version released 01/01/06 changed that since I re-installed Nero 6 but want to go back to Nero 7 as soon as I can.
I've noticed the same problem with Nero 7's Recode. Nero 6 Recode never gave this problem. Recode says it can't read some file on the DVD. If the disc is copied to the hard drive first Recode can read the files just fine. My solution so far has been just to not use it. I've never used Recode much anyway because after I set the size to 4300 MB it goes ahead and burns something like 4484 to the disc, which is way too close to the edge of the disc for my liking. I guess some one will figure this out eventually. Dave
I can run Nero 6 no problem with the Recode program included with that version. Here's something though. When I use the InfoTool. It says my Windows ASPI is not installed and if I try to install Adaptecs which is the only ASPI download I can find on the internet, it installs two files and the info tool says ASPI failed. I don't know how to use Nero's ASPI because if I switch ASPI to Nero in the tool, it doesn't stay as the Nero ASPI. Is there any ASPI installation I can find or why is Nero 7 not working with the no ASPI installed on Nero 7 while it works fine with Nero 6. I like using recode but it's so odd that the new recode won't work. I also run Anydvd at the same time. Any help with this? It's getting frustrating that I have to downgrade to Nero 6 to this stuff these days.
