Both of these movies are giving me a great deal of trouble. I've tried DVDXCopy, DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter and DVDFab Decrypter. For X Copy, I get an error for both saying "cannot read sectors" For Shrink 3.2, I get a Cyclic Redundancy Check For Decrypter 3.4.5.0, I get an I/O error message. DVDFab Decrypter reads the movies fine until a certain point, at which it just stops (even after an hour of waiting) Other programs like DVD43 are unable to help as well. Any suggestions? I've tried cleaning both disks of course. They seem to be okay. I've been using the "CD cleaners" that can be obtained at Staples. They play fine on DVD players also. Thanks for any help!
Well those Movies are rather Old so they will not have any New Protections on them so these errors are From Damage to the Disk like a Scratch or Dirt ECT..... You might want to try a Data recovery Program like "BadCopy Pro" with ANYDVD running in the Backround and see if it can rip the DVD.... What it will do is when it reads an error it will either Copy the last good data over the error or Fill the Corrupted sector with Zero"s...The Resulting Ripped DVD Might have errors in it but the error might not effect Playback as it could be an error in say one of the audio tracks that you will not be useing or in a special Feature.... I used it on a Dammaged Copy of "Fight Club" and it worked pretty good accept for a very small Glitch in the Video at one Spot that wasn"t even noticeable unless you were looking for it... cheers
The Errors that you are receiving are usually caused from dirty, scratched or poor media discs.. That’s why I will assume that these are backups on a poor media that has degraded. The only thing that I can suggest is to set up DVDDecrypter for an aggressive read like this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/270657 Try reading it with this and also try another drive, if you have one, that sometimes works…
