Hi you all,I have a Pioneer DVR 109 BK I use Nero and DVD Decrypter to do allot of my burns.I recently bought Verbatim 16x DVD-r's.I and other friends who have the same drive will have this problem of the finaliztion of the disc when being burn either by Decrypter or Nero and that is it will not finalize or complete but will still keep burning or going untill I have to turn off the PC by the Pc's on /off button or Hard shutdown which sucks. But burnning at a slower speed such as 8x, I will have no problem on those Verbatim 16x.Dose any one know what the problem could be.I am useing 1.57 on the firmware,I don't want to upgrade the firmware to 1.58 unless I have to.But any help will be appreciated.
i have this same drive, but i used hacked buffalo firmware to enable booktyping, however, what is the point of burning your 16x Verbs @16x?? i would recommend you KEEP the burns @8x like you have been doing successfully...i have well over a thousand backups on my Pioneer dvr-109 ALL burned @8x...they are all flawless, with the exception of 1 or 2 that i messed up on my own (user error) lastly, i would recommend you update firmware to the latest 1.58...why the hesitancy about upgrading firmware? i ALWAYS keep up to date as the new write strategies with updated firmware allows your drive to "do more" with "more different media"...just curious as to why you insist on keeping the 1.57, KNOWING that a newer one is out there and it improves upon the firmware of the 1.57~ docTY~
I have read that some people were having problems with that firmware update. To my understanding you can not go back to previous version. Are you useing that version,1.58 ? But I have been doing my burns at 8x now and all disc burned without any prblems.
as i mentioned before, i'm not using official pioneer firmware...my version is actually 8.57, based on the buffalo firwmare from japan~ if your 1.57 has been giving you good results and successful burns, then by all means, keep using it until it gives you issues why fix something that ain't broke right? i guess i'm just overly excessive when it comes to keeping MY firmware up to date, that's just me...i shouldn't try to convince you to do the same...my bad. but, anyways, burning @8x on those discs you got is just fine...don't sweat it too much about burning it @16x...there are always more chances of errors and possible "coasters" when burning that fast... yes, i admit, my pioneer dvr-109 has been a fast, great burner..but, stick with 8x burns on the media...a few min. diff. is NOT going to kill ya, besides you will have better backups and the confidence of knowing they are done properly... docTY~
