Bought a Panasonic DMR-ES10 today, mainly so I can archive recordings from the HDD of my Humax PVR-8000T/80.

Connected it up to the TV and the Humax OK, or so I thought! Played 5 minutes of a DVD, then pressed 'stop' and left it with the 'home' screen showing. I don't think I touched anything, but after 10 minutes or so a green check pattern appeared over the picture, and it's there all the time now while playing a pre-recorded DVD or on the 'home' screen.

Programmes I record appear not even to show the picture under the check pattern, and have no sound.

Does anyone know if this can be caused by anything other than a faulty machine?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Took the DVD recorder back to Comet today. They tested it, said it was faulty, and replaced it. All seems fine with the new one.
