Okay I got a virus. So I ran everything that ddp likes to use and some of my own. So as far as I know I got rid of it. So how do I get rid of this damn blue warning screen?? I think they must have installed this as a update from windows cause none of my programs I use does this and I never saw it before.:>
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display>Desktop>Customize Desktop>Web and uncheck "Security Info" if present.
Nope not it. Nothing there under web. Hmm...according to running process at startup and avast, trend micro, and microsuck antispyware this system is clean. So how do ya get rid of the screen. It really bugs the eyes man..lol.!:> Thanks though jean anyone else?
Run a search on [bold]secure32.html[/bold] -- that is usually what that bot is named ! You must have gotten rid of the virus but not the annoying warning it sneaks in ! If I remember well , the name of the html code that puts that on your desk is secure32.html or secure.html or secure.htm -0- and its normally put into the web folder of the Display, thats why i sent you there to look first!
Thank you ...thank you very very much. Damn this plagued me on two different systems. One of which I wiped to fix it and my own. Guess it got transfered from the one I was fixing to mine. But now all good. Thanks! I did a search on secure32.html and I found a site which said what keys in the reg to delete. All good now. Thanks! LMao! And I thought for a min microsuck put in windows as warning to me that the system was infected...lol!
Guessing that in your search you also found the tool to remove this spyware -- I believe its called the SpySheriff or Paytime spyware. Those are from the same company and always sneak in that nerve wrecking display "" Spyware Infection "" -- when actually all you have is an adware !they want you to buy their darn program ! Glad you could sort it out after i gave you that little clue ! Have a good week !
yeh that bit of malware is a real bitch. the amount of times ive had people asking me to fix there computer to get greeted by that desktop picture is diabolical. ive had it a few times myself its a real pain in the ass when you have to be your own antispyware program and go round deleting all the reg keys
Yup...Thats SpySheriff. SpyBot now gets rid of it with the current definitions. Several of my machines here in the office got hit with that crap......that was a LONG day. What a frickin PAIN!!! ~Rich
Damn I should have tried spybot, but didnt want to bother installing it cause I have javacool spybot installed and microsoft antispyware installed. The one is supposed to stop known spyware from installing itself and the other is supposed to be the best. Guess not...cause javacool failed and let it be installed. Plus microsoft deleted the spyware, but not the active desktop reg key which cause the picture. Can anybody recommend really good spyware tool? I mean paid that works excellent. Cause I fix computers on the side and these proggies are letting me down. Hell I ran the trial of webroot and it found a rootkit where neither avast or microsuck didnt find. Not even spybot a while back on my own machine. Also I didnt find a uninstaller for spy sherriff, but I did find a article bout what keys to delete and even the name and address of the company who makes it. Oh and joke of the day. I have avast running and I decide to go over to stop sign antivirus site. Its a scanner like avast. My gf sent me over cause she seen the commercial on the tv bout it being free trail and great. The minute I clicked the link for the installer avast started squawking saying it was a trojan and do I want to abort connection. So I did. I tried two more times thinking it was a fluke and lo and behold same thing. So I guess the wonderful trial software installs a trojan and then finds it when run. Then ya buy the software to get rid of it. None the wiser to the fact that stop sign put it there in the first place. Great marketing scheme huh? Goes to show yeah not to trust everything on tv. Lol!:>
