Hello there I've managed to get infected with this nasty little virus and have had a look at a recent thread on the subject. "Spertti" seems like he'll be able to fix this for me?! I've run HicackThis and here is my logfile: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 02:06:56, on 07/01/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\windows\System32\smss.exe C:\windows\system32\csrss.exe C:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe C:\windows\system32\services.exe C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\windows\Explorer.EXE C:\windows\System32\alg.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\EPSON\EBAPI\SAgent2.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\HPConfig.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Notebook Utilities\HPWirelessMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\sdhelp.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Chovv\Cdhv.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\PROGRA~1\HPQ\ONE-TO~1\OneTouch.EXE C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\navapw32.exe C:\windows\System32\LSASS.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\ntl\BROADB~1\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe C:\windows\System32\carpserv.exe C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\windows\alt.exe C:\Program Files\FotoStation Easy\FotoStation Easy AutoLaunch.exe C:\Program Files\Nikon\NkView5\NkvMon.exe C:\Program Files\ntl\broadband medic\bin\mpbtn.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\NoAdware4\NoAdware4.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R0 - Hello again. Done everything you said (I think). When I rebooted in Safe Mode I couldn't find C:\windows alt.exe, C:\windows batserv2.exe, C:\windows\system32 msjcf.exe and C:\windows\System32 browsela.dll, so I think they might have already gone. However, the alt.exe file looks like it might still be hiding somewhere as when I restarted in noral mode I got the Norton Virus warning again (but only for alt.exe file, not browsela.dll file). Anyway, here is the HJT log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:42:43, on 07/01/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\windows\System32\smss.exe C:\windows\system32\csrss.exe C:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe C:\windows\system32\services.exe C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\windows\Explorer.EXE C:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\windows\System32\alg.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\EPSON\EBAPI\SAgent2.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\HPConfig.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Notebook Utilities\HPWirelessMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\sdhelp.exe C:\windows\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\PROGRA~1\HPQ\ONE-TO~1\OneTouch.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\navapw32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ntl\BROADB~1\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe C:\windows\System32\carpserv.exe C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\windows\System32\LSASS.EXE C:\windows\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\WINDOWS\alt.exe C:\Program Files\FotoStation Easy\FotoStation Easy AutoLaunch.exe C:\Program Files\Nikon\NkView5\NkvMon.exe C:\windows\system32\ntvdm.exe C:\Program Files\ntl\broadband medic\bin\mpbtn.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R0 - Alt.exe should be here -> C:\windows\alt.exe (it's in running processes as well) Do this: First, shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware as it might prevent those lines to be removed Fix these lines with HjT: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows Session Manager Subsystem] C:\windows\smss.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows Logon Process] C:\windows\winlogon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSOffice32] C:\windows\System32\msjcf.exe Download KillBox http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/spyware/KillBox.zip Unzip,open and select Delete on Reboot Then copy/paste the line below: C:\windows\alt.exe Then in KillBox File > Paste from Clipboard Press Delete after that (red with white X on it) Answer yes in questions and if computer doesn't restart automatically, restart it by yourself.
