new hard drive not seen....help!

    Well I got my new western digital h/d today and went to install it. it is recognized by my bios and in device manager,dma-5 enabled and supposedly working properly But it is not showing up when I click my computer! any ideas? This is not my first h/d installation by any meanes but I usually use maxtors and this thing is driving me nuts!

    What do you mean that it's not showing up when you "click" your computer. Do you mean when you turn it on?

    no,I mean when you check in my computer and it shows your disk drives,optical drives etc...

    is it partitioned & formated??

    no,I have not been able to format yet and as far as partitioning goes I like to leave it at 320gb. this drive is to be used for movie back-up storage. right now I've got it in my other rig and I'm trying to format using my xp install disk.
