Audio Problems

    I have a new external DVD burner. It works fine for burner DVDs. But when I play a DVD, there is no sound. If it burn a ripped DVD, the sound comes across onto the blank DVD. If I play the DVD in a stand alone DVD player on my TV, there is sound. But if I play it on my DVD burner on my computer, no sound can be heard. Why? What can I do to correct?
