As the forum topic identifies...newb here. I ran DVD Shrink for the first time and the first window that popped up suggested that the region my DVD drive was set for (Region 2) might not play/record DVDs in my region's (Region 1) players, and politely asked if I wanted to switch. Sounded like a smart idea (and it also told me I could switch 4 more times anyway). Now, playing original DVD's I get no video, just choppy audio, and the DVD I was able to copy (Family Guy) plays on my DVD player all choppy. I went into control panel (Win XP Pro) to switch the DVD back to region 2 and it says I only have one switch left. I figured I would bite the bullet and go for it, but it won't let me switch back to region 2 - it asks to make sure there's a region 2 media and I have admin privileges (which I do have the privileges). Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed before I pull it out and go buy a new drive.
I would suggest having AnyDVD always running in the background. It effectively makes your drives region free. hope this helps, john
