    Hi,
I am downloading torrents for the first time and I am running into a snag in that, after I create an .iso image, I am using dvd decryptor to burn this to dvd. All is well until I try to play it when my dvd player warns me that it can't read the contents. When I check the contents with isobuster, everything seems in order. What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate help with this.

it's possible and more probable that your disk is not compatible with your player. Use quality Blank media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, Sony, Ritek, to name a few. If you're using Memorex, try to return to store! They sux!!!! Using good media is half the problem that most people don't realize and it cost just as much as the bad stuff!

    try reading this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
check out #3, and #12 and see if you can fix your problem!
    I hope this helps!

The files I am working with are video files (movie format), the medium I am using is Sony DVD-R and the apps I am using are Azureus (site to download BitTorrents), File2ISO, then Dvdecryptor.

On IHoes' advice, I looked at 3 and 12 but as I mentioned in my last entry, I am using Sony DVD-R so the quality of the medium should be there but this question about the booktype area could be a problem...or perhaps the encryption is still there.? If it is the booktype file manipulation is there software I can use to auto manipulate. If it is an encryption issue should I use AnyDVD? (kind of thought with a name like dvdecryptor it would do the job but maybe not:))

Sony is a good disk.... maybe it's your DVD player that is having trouble with the burn....... what speed did you burn to disk ? maybe that's the problem, you burned it faster than 4x and the player can't read it!

My DVD player also happens to be a very good quality Sony. Regarding the burn speed, the instructions for dvdecryptor suggest to use "Max" if unsure so that is what I did. (all files were there when I looked at the contents of the dvd with isobuster also)

In DVDDecrypter, hit MODE, ISO, WRITE, and then you will see on the bottom right hand side, SETTINGS---Write speed can be set to 4x. try it..... don't write at MAX speed..... some drives are picky.

    Hi

Is this a standalone? If it is, chances are it won't read copies. I say that because i have 2. My Sony one cost me almost 400 notes, and it can't read anything that isn't original (quality of those are better than superb tough), my Phillips one, bought down Tesco's for 37 quid with discount, reads everything! Even data!

    just a thought...

[edit] Also, does that film play good if you use your burner?

well I have 2 Sony players, also in the 400 and 500 dollar range and they play flawlessly anything and everything I put in there EXCEPT crappy media! I strickly use Taiyo Yuden and there are no problems! I also set my burn to DVD-ROMs and use the +Rs and burn at 4x!

if useing folder to iso dont try another app to make the iso, as it does not make a proper dvd compliant iso

load files to dvd shrink this makes a compliant iso

Thanks Rotary, I'll try dvdshrink. I guess someone could be confused if they hypothetically downloaded a movie using bittorrent xfers and they were ultimately saved to a file and if that person read "How to burn a DVD folder with DVD Decrypter" from the guide.

I have the same issues as permiggs with my Sony Dream System. It does ok with originals, but copies are a mixed bag. Lots of jerking, spitting and sputtering. My 2 other no name sub $50 players will play anything I throw at them - flawlessly.

the simple rule is when buying a dvd to play copies on

I beg to differ.......Sony has been berry berry gooddddd to me!!!!!! LOL Anyway...... that's all I have is sony players and they don't spit anything out! They play them all..... I use Taiyo Yuden disks only, now! They even played and still play my old Memosux disks!! Sooooooo don't put Sony into a round about viewpoint. NOT ALL SONYS act the same as the sample sonys that you know of!

I am convinced it is my sony. The model I am using is NC665P. The DVD's play with no problem on my brothers cheap dvd player. The problem only seems to be when burning dvd's from a file. The reason I say this is that if I simply do a backup of an original dvd it plays without a problem.
That really sucks! I bought the player specifically because it was highly rated by consumers. It may very well be that some sony's would play dvd's burned from files but not this one.
