What does "power caliberation area error" mean when you're burning a disc? I searched for it on goggle. Some say it might the lens and that it is dirty. But, I don't think that's the case because I put in a dvd movie in the burner and the movie played fine. My burner is for dvd(+)rw/r. I did insert a dvd(-)r disc though. Could that be the problem? Or it might be the brand of the disc. I used a nexxtech brand dvd-r bought from circuit city.
Nexxtech is mostly crap/junk media, in my opinion. So the real culprit is likely the media itself. If you're burning with Nero, then I recommend you to update to its latest version (ie 6.6.0.18 for Nero 6 Ultra, or 7.7.1.4B for Nero 7 Ultra). It means a lot of things, such as crap media with cheap dye (especially Memorex aka CMC MAG), your burner needs to update its firmware, make sure your cables are tight and not loose, burner's laser is dirty (you need to clean with a can of air or cd/dvd cleaning kits), etc.
