Samsung SDG-605 Rev. F Problem

I bought a 1-year old Samsung SDG-605 Rev. 5 DVD-ROM drive on eBay from a buyer whom stated it had only been used once. It reads DVD+/-R discs fine, but will not read CDR/RW discs at all. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem. I bought this drive because I researched it, and was convinced that it would read almost all media formats. Is there any kind of cleaning job or perhaps firmware upgrade I could do?

 

try another brand of RW....I've had problems with a few brnads myself.
