Hi all. I am a newbie as well and have some great difficulty buring a .cue file with Nero Express onto a DVD. I get an error message: "Compilation cannot be written on that medium type. (Medium in drive: DVD-R. Medium required by compilation: CD-R/RW.)" But I want to burn it onto a DVD-R, not a CD-R/RW... What could it be? I will post my log down below. I updated the DVD firmware today, so that shouldn't be it. Any suggestions are welcomed! Because the image was made for a cd it will want a cd to burn. You can use isobuster to extract the files inside the image to the hard drive then burn it however you want.
Hi, thanks for the reply. IsoBuster - never heard of it. is it easy to use? I only have to extract the .bin file then to the hard drive? Cheers.
As a side note, the hard drive and the burner have DMA turned off. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
Your version of Nero is behind: it is up to 6.6.0.18. http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php and i think this driver causes problems for Nero, but i don't ever remember seeing a fix for it. Creaky has seen more than one log with this type of driver, so maybe he knows if it is a problem, and how to fix it. also your firmware is one version behind: Get the update here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1973 Looks like you need A106.
Hey Guys, thanks for the advice. I tried updating the firmware, but it "failed". Tried a couple of times, but got the same error message over and over again. (the www.lge.com website doesn't have the newest firmware on their site yet either). anyway, when it comes to DMA enabling I have quite a different set up in "systems". if I click on the ata/atapi controls all I see are 3 or 4 NVIDIA xxx where everything is set to automatic. If I choose to switch them manually, it shows me a list of possibilities - going from "ultra dma" to DMA1, DMA2, word-dma 1, word-dma2, and PIO... not sure what to do as I don't get the same screens as the ones you posted for the DMA controls. all screens/windows look different than the one on the "how to switch DMA settings" form. :-( any other help? thanks again though.
neolly, Your firmware was only 1 vers behind, so it should have taken the new one. If firmware gets too far behind, many times you cant go to the latest version, but have to work your way up to it. What was the error message you got? Your drives should be DMA on. You don't want to see any in PIO mode. That is the slowest mode. DMA uses your ram and PIO uses the CPU. You can check your DMAs with nero info tool. It should show DMA on for each drive: this tab shows your DMAs Usually to get DMA back, you un-install the driver, and reboot. Windows automatically loads the driver on bootup. Here is how Nero says to do it:
I see what you mean. Doesn't look a thing like what we posted. Let me see if i can get creaky involved. He has seen these nvida controllers. I will pm him with a link to this thread, and maybe he can help.
