Most burners do come with the necessary software(CD) and most also come with some version of Nero, even if it's only an OEM version.
If there isn't a Nero Prog with burner then go to Nero web site and download free trial version.

All you have to do is go to the nero website http://www.nero.com and you'll be able to purchase the latest version. Once you have it make sure you protect your SerialNumber.

    Newegg sells:
    Bare drives
Drives with nero-sonic-80 wire/40 pin IDE cable.
Drives along with nero or sonic and a pack of blank dvds and maybe the 80 wire/40 pin cable.

They may have the same model,NEC 3540 for example, with same model #,but different goodies with them. You have to check all of them out.You can get the nero oem for a couple clams extra on certain models.

Some peeps download the free trial of nero and it allows them to burn dvd's well after it expires.

I picked up nero suite3 and windvd4 for my dad from Ebay and it only ran about $10 for both those programs.

Like pulsar indicates. They work great. I backed up Skeleton Key and Brothers Grim tonight without any problems using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.

Skeleton Key took 23 minutes and Brothers Grimm 26 minutes start to finish.

    Great programs.

    Cheers.
