If the firmware in my dvd burner doesn't support the writing of a dvd-rom booktype, but it will write a dvd+rw disc, then shouldn't my standalone Sony dvd player that supposedly plays dvd+rw discs play it without me having to bitset the firmware to write in dvd-rom booktype? Should I try a different media type? This is what decrypter told me about my disc. Looks fine as far as I can tell. _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A 10GE (ATA) Current Profile: DVD+RW Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: Yes Formatted: Yes Sessions: 1 Sectors: 2,295,104 Size: 4,700,372,992 bytes Time: 510:03:29 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 2.4x Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: RICOHJPN-W11-01 Book Type: DVD+RW Part Version: 2 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2,491,711 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Format Capacity: Sectors: 2,295,104 Size: 4,700,372,992 bytes Time: 510:03:29 (MM:SS:FF)
ir ur player states it plays rw media u should be fine. if it plays +rw then it should play +r media which is a lot cheaper.
Unusual and original? I thought it was quite appropriate myself. I wish one of you "senior" members could solve this problem for me. I keep going in circles. Maybe I'll try another disc. I just looked and the Maxell that I have was made in Taiwan. I think I'll try a Verbatin 2.4x DataLife or DataLifePlus +rw disc. I only like the +rw so I can reuse it when I'm done.
take one to the store where u bought it, or a similar electronics store and try it there on a dvd player like or similar to yours. then u should know if its the player or not. just act like ur going to buy one.
This may be irrelevant: But, If your writer doesn't support bitsetting, I would suggest switching to DVD-R discs since they have higher compatibility than non-booktyped DVD+Rs.
Ok I am a smart alec but if it still doesn't work judging from the title. Do you have any hair left to pull out?? Sorry I am having a good day. I know that some of the discs I have burned don't work in every stand alone player. I know it sometimes very frustrating when you just spent hours backing up a disc just to find out it won't work in your player.
