    Hi everyone;

I have had nero smart on my computer, but recently I wanted to install Nero Vision, but during installation, when it gets to "showtime", it gives an error saying "showtime" could not be installed and installation stops. I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this problems.

    thanks

I'm having the exact same problem, and it's driving me insane. The worst part is that I can't seem to find a solution by googling it either.. I've tried installing from CD, from my hard drive, removing all Nero-components and reinstalling them, and nothing seems to work. I'm starting to think it's intefering with some other program, but I have no clue what so ever which one..

Edit: I just noticed that ShowTime actually is installed, but the stupid thing still stops and gives me the exact same error..

both of you may need to re-install again, but you have to wipe out nero completely and do a few re-boots..

    un-install using this application..

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Clean_Tools.html

one installed and it finds left over bits of nero, make sure, run a search for it

start> search> files & folders> type in 'nero' 'ahead' 'incd' just to be sure.. when prompted, do the re-boot, re-install, follow the directions, update nero, then when prompted again, reboot... see if that works !!!

I've tried that two times already, but it didn't work.. Which is why I think that maybe it's interfering with some other program or codec, but I'm not sure.

    do you have InCd installed?
thats a problem waiting to happen if you do.

produce a nero error log and we can go from there...

    No, I haven't installed InCD..

This may be a really stupid question, but how do I make a Nero error log?

if you have a burn that fails, it will happen right after that, you just copy and paste,, if not, you'll have to find it in nero.

It can be found at c:program files>ahead>nero>nero history.log.

I don't have any files named nerohistory.log or anything like that, but I found nero.txt, and it looked sort of like a history log, so I'll post it.

[Removed to make the thread shorter seeing as it was irrelevant]

I have no idea what's relevant or not or if this has anything to do with the installation error, but ah well..

Ah, okay... Well, then I don't have a history log. Which may have something to do with the fact that I haven't used it since I removed everything and reinstalled it.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I use VLC media player and it might collide with ShowTime or something? Or is there anywhere I can download only NeroVision Express, and not all the other stuff in the package?

as far as i know you can... try the nero 7 demo, install only what you want, it will tell you when near done...'this will be installed' check as you go... try it see what happens. if you dont like it, you can always delete it, no cost... free for now till end of the month..
