i encode and rip my dvd's with shrink, then i burn with nero.i have the the box ticked for the option of booktyping the dvd.i burn with verbatim dvd+r's.i thought when you booktype a dvd it changes it to dvd-rom,which is suppose to read, load and play in any dvd player.i have 4 dvd players in my house including a portable and it plays in 3 outta 4 of the players.the 4th it wont play in is a stand alone toshiba progressive scan dvd player.it wont even read the disc, why is this???

No, booktyping will work for most players.. not all.

How old is that dvd player that they won't work on? and is it just one movie that won't play on there or any movies that you've burned through dvd shrink with nero?
If it's any movie, then my guess would be that your player just can't handle the discs you have... you could try some dvd-r discs and see if that works better for you.
If it's just one or 2, then maybe they are a different region than your player and it doesn't like region free either.. so instead of setting region free, set the dvd's to the region in which you live.

    hope that helps
