I've noticed that mpeg2 files on my hard drive that I want to combine and make a DVD movie using Nero vision 4, are mysteriously increasing in size after being analysed by Nero and added to the project. So a 700 MB file becomes about 1.2gigs after the analysis. This is using the "Make DVD movie" menu button on Nero start smart. Does anyone know why this is happening and is there a way around it ? Because obviously this reduces the no of video files that I can include on a 4.7GB DVD.
This, I believe is quite normal, an AVI file of around 700mb contains a full movie which equates to a couple of gig after conversion. Mpeg or mpg files are compressed files and will stay that size on your HD until they are converted.
Yes, gwendolin is right and that is normal. Any ordinary 700MB of AVI or DivX can turn into 4.1GB or 4.3GB when converting/transcoding from AVI to DVD (VIDEO_TS file).
