Question: [bold]How do I configure Rencode2 (vers 6 or 7) to create a .mp4 file that will playback on MPEG-4 DVD players?[/bold] I have spent a couple of hours looking for an answer\thread but have not found an answer (yet). I own a Phillips DVP642 player. It supports MPEG-4 playback. It will playback DIVX files, but I have not been able to get it to playback any .mp4 files created with Recode2. I own Nero version 5 -> 7. Love the product.
I have come to the conclusion that it will not if you mean philips 642. I have one and been trying way longer then 2 hrs with no luck. So I just convert them to divx 6.
Any guess as to what maybe the problem? The info I've found so far states that Recode2 creates .mp4 files that are 100% compliant to the MPEG-4 specs. using a demo version of AVS Video Converter 4.3, It was able to create .mp4 files that will playback video on the DVP642, although there was no sound. My best guess us that the encoding is OK, but the structure of the file is not to the liking of the DVD player. The files created by Recode2 playback fine using WMP and QT. Plays back fine on the Mac using QT.
I am thinking it is some kind of strange combination of mpeg4 and there version of aac. So far all the apps I have try to find out what codecs are used I get this error log, 0x00040242 Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format. For interleave I get type unknown and in audio I get 4cc mp4a.
