hi im new to forums but im stumped by this problem im having. having searched the net for 2 days and got nowhere i decided to join this forum as it seems that anyone with a nero problem comes here. im currently using nero 7 premium and also 1click dvd copy and for the last month ive had no problems at all. then suddenly 2 days ago they both stopped working and im unable to burn anything to dvd. when i try nero it transcodes the video and when it starts to burn to disc it aborts with the message "burn process failed". ive tried about 5 times but with no joy. i dont think its the discs im using as ive used about 15 - 20 without problems. ive tried updating the drivers and reinstalling both nero and my dvd rw. if anyone can help me id be very grateful. i know you will need to see my error log but dont know how to get it on here so if you could tell me how again i would be very grateful.

Well, there can be a few other issues such as firmware, media, speeds and other horrible packages/drivers such as InCD and Roxio include. So, let's have the "very last section" of you Nero log. To get the last section of your log, go here: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory and REMEMBER to EDIT out your Nero serial before you're going to post back in here.

Below is an example from a successful burned log of mine:

    Welcome to Afterdawn!!

Post your last Nero burn log.

You should be able to find it here:

    C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero7\Core\NeroHistory.log

    Copy/Paste it into a reply.

Nero makes a log entry whether you have saved one or not. They are saved in sequence and are fairly long. Find the last one and post it.

    They are divided by:

    ====== *** Nero Burning ROM, History File *** ======

    1C82-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

    Don't include your serial number!

Nero's log provides a detailed look at what went wrong and from that we can usually figure out what you need to get up and burning again.

    Cheers,
    Frank

Yeah, I burned whenever I feel like it.

Well, you log looks pretty clean, except few minor thing below.

Try to update to the latest of Nero 7.0.1.4B (Nero seems to have fixed a lot of the earlier bugs, so with 7.0.1.4B, it should be alright).

This is wrong, I'm curious to what are you trying to burn? It should be at least 4365MB or 4400MB, or something similar.

I'm wondering what kind of media did you used? Your burner's firmware seems to be up-to-dated, but somehow it won't recognize (it's missing) the MID code. This should 2 lines.

Again, here is an example taken from a log of mine:

Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-710A, Media type: DVD+R
Disc Manufacturer ID: YUDEN000, Media Type ID: T02,

Eventhough you may have a successful burned, but your burner is kind of picky, it looks like doesn't really like the media. The only media I recommend are: Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" and MAXELL (mij by Hitachi), these are top notch media. I've used tons (hundreds of them) and I've never experienced any issues at all.

    Good luck!!

If you already have Nero 7 S/N (key), then it is FREE. Here's what you need to do:

<> write down your current Nero 7 serial number on a piece of paper or where you can find/remember.
<> get Nero's General Clean Tool here http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html
<> run Nero's General Clean Tool to completely wipe out the Current Nero 7.0.0.0 from your system (remember run it twice, just to make sure)
    <> restart your computer
<> download the latest Nero 7.0.1.4B from here http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-demo.php
<> once it's completed, re-install (run) the new Nero 7
<> restart your computer, then put your old Nero 7 Serial Number over the demo serial.
<> restart your computer and you should be all set

This is how I've always updated my Nero 7 whenever I wanted to update to its current version. By the way, I have Nero 7 Premium (7.0.1.4 now), but I'm going to update to 7.0.1.4B a in few more hours.

    Good luck!!

I concur because when the new Nero7 came out it was only a couple of days before the thing was updated. And then a few days later updated again. Of course alkohol is spot on as usual! I just wanted to add my $0.02 worth.
I usually don't run the clean tool and just install over the old. In this case I would though because of the problems that are occuring and it would be better to start fresh. With Nero that is never a bad idea.

    First log of successful burn

    Second log failed

As Alkohol stated looks like your burner is being picky.
