I have a Sony DRU 710-A DVD burner and have never had any problems with it.I use Nero and DVD Decrypter quite frequently.Lately, when I go to burn with this software I've gotten error messages such as...

DVD Decrypter-Searching for SCSI/ATAPI Devices. And when I try to burn with Nero Burning Rom the icon (the match) doesn't light up.

However,my pc still recognizes the burner,so I know it's still installed securely.

Can anyone tell me what this might be or how to actually findout what the problem is?

Did you change media? It sounds like it is not intializing the disc. I have this burner but I've never had this happen. Mine will say device not ready,I'll throw in some ty,it recognizes the media and away we go. Hope this helps Good luck

budberner, actually yes I did change the media I was using.Personally I use quality media, but I was burning something for someone else and they gave me Staples media to burn with (OUCH!!!!) but when I attepmted to use my media it's works fine once again.

So now DVD Decrypter works fine once again but I'm still not having any luck with Nero.

probably what happened is when you put their media in it changed you IDE settings, to check to see if they are back to normal, go to start, right click my computer go to device manager,go to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, right click Secondary IDE,go to advanced settings, it should say Device 0 DMA if available and right under that ultra DMA Mode 2, Device 2 should be the same, if not uninstall the drivers restart your computer and then go back to Device manager to see if the problem is corrected...
