Hi, I'm VERY new to burning dvd's - apologies in advance for not knowing the most basic stuff... I need to burn some dvd's to free up hard drive space, and my flatmate has Nero version 6.0.0.0. I know this is an old version and I'm in the process of getting version 7.0.1.4. But when I open Nero StartSmart, I get an error message saying "Nero has a known compatibilty issue with this version of Windows". My flatmate has Windows XP Home Edition. I'm hoping the dvd burner isn't going to give me problems once I have a workable version of Nero. Can anyone tell me where to start? Cheers
UPGRADING to version 7 will cost you --- So, You can update that version 6 and download the patch from Nero for Windows Xp for FREE
thanks for your help thus far... ok, so i'm now checking out the nero download page for the update of 'ultra edition', which is what my flatmate has. and i have to download package 1 and 2. am i wrong in assuming this will fix my problem of nero's compatibility with window xp home edition? thanks
The Update package #3 is InCd -- which is not recommended by some people in here !Although I have it and never had any problems ! If you do not need to copy/paste on RW disks , dont take it. Package #4 is NeroMix , and Package #5 is NeroPlayer. Those 2 are not very useful specially when you already have Window Media Player ! So you should be fine with the first 2 package ! The GDI patch is here on NeroWebsite :- http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/Support_Tools.html And the Multimounter is here:- http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/Multimounter_for_Win9.x_2K_XP.html Have a great Day !
