    Hello All

I've been burning DVDs for about 2 months now with very few problems. When I first started, Nero would make an error around 2% of the burn and I fixed it by uninstalling my other burning programs and reinstalling Nero. Since then, it has been working fine. I've been using Verbatim for DVDs and HP for data discs. Lately, as late as a couple days ago, Sunday, I've been through about 17 coasters.

Here is what I have been doing:
Video DVDs Fujifilm, FUJIFILM03 (according to DVD Identifier) ---> I have problems with this
Video DVDs Verbatim, MCC 03RG20 (according to DVD Identifier) ---> I DID NOT have problems with this
PS2 Data DVDs HP DVD-R, CMC MAG. AE1 (according to DVD Identifier) ---> I NOW have problems with this, I did not use to
Data DVDs HP DVD-R, CMC MAG. AE1 (according to DVD Identifier) ---> I NOW have problems with this, I did not use to

All of the DVDs I have used are DVD-Rs and only the Fujifilm is 8x. All of my firmware is up-to-date, according to the Firmware link that is on this forum. By all things considered, this shouldn't be a problem, since nothing new has happened. Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. If anyone has any interesting craft ideas for these used DVDs, please share them.

one of your other problems which you fail to notice is you dont have very much memory .

How about you up your ram a bit, 256 isnt going to cut it.Try the same project with 512

    - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory

    - ugh!, i think you're answered your own questions, these are utter atrocious rubbish media, see this well-worn link from my sig for reasons to not buy HP/Memorex/CMC/Imation/TDK/Datawrite - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406

    - see previous comment

    - maybe try 4x on those awful discs

Hi again, I took your advice and bought 512 more RAM and am using only Fujifilm Dvdrs but I'm still having problems. It will only burn at 2x (if that).

Rotary / andmerr - LOL, sorry didn't see your comments before. you guys kill me :)

    @neoxab -

    - 4465MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

    - maybe try 4x

    - as far as i'm aware this is fine, you'll only see this driver under Windows 2000 i think (the driver name's a slight giveaway!)

If it's not the packet writing software loading up then it is probably your processor. What type processor are you using?

I also noticed that you have a Lite-On DVD Burner. You can download a utility from their site www.liteonit.com that you can change the Booktype to DVD-ROM for more playing compatability.

@Rotary - that driver i think is linked to nerocheck.exe, can't remember, it was before lunch when i googled for it LOL., either way it's fine; i don't come across too many Win2K error logs now as they're few and far between now
