hey guys, im renting the Sopranos DVDs and trying to burn them, but i read online that there is CSS encryption...now does anyone have an easy to understand FAQ or guide that shows how to remove the encryption and then burn the DVD in the fastest possible time. I plan on using DVD-5 discs and would also like to shrink the data since sopranos disks are about 9 GB. Thanks for tha help
anydvd + dvd decrypter, then dvd shrink or anydvd + clonedvd2 will rip it out and shrink it also you are trying to backup your own originals yes? lol
hey thanks for the tips, im doin it step by step to back it up...i just finished ripping the first season 5 disk to my hard drive. do u know the next step? do i use dvd shrink to shrink the size so it fits to DVD-5 disc? Also, what kind of blank DVDs should i buy, DVD-R or DVD+R,? What is the step to burning the files to the blank DVD? What program to use and how to do it, preferable with an online guide....thanks in advance
what apps did you use to rip it? also just load it to dvd shrink, its a pretty easy app to grasp! also set output size in options to 4300, then make sure you use deep analysis! as its big file to compress http://www.dvdshrink.info/fulldisk_basic.php (press next button picture in guide to move on!!!!) ignore first part as you allready ripped it just load what you ripped! dvd shrink can rip too!
i should als be clear to state that i am backing up my sopranos season 5 collection, just to let you know
hey man i used dvd shrink and i ripped 4.35 GB of the first disc onto a folder on my hard drive...do u know what program i would now need to burn the files onto a DVD disc? DVD-R or DVD+R? thankz
Try reading some of the 'guides' in Afterdawn (see 'Guides' tab). They provide detailed step by step instructions. Here is one that uses Shrink and Image Burn (could also use DVD Decrypter); http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm In your first post you say you are renting the disks to copy, in subsequent posts you say they are your disks, what's the story? regards
i own all five seasons of the show and im backin em up. What is better to buy dvd-r or dvd+r, or the dual layer DVDs? peace
Suggest using either Image Burn or DVD Decrypter. There is an option in Shrink when selecting back up to write an ISO file and burn with DVD Decrypter. Either DVD-R or DVD+R media can be used. Most burners and standalone DVD players will support either type. In addition if your burner supports it the DVD+R media can be set to ('Booktyped') DVD-ROM which can make it compatible with more DVD players. DL disks cost more (prices have dropped) and allow copying the entire original without compressing/removing material. Use the 'Glossary' section on this forum to learn terminology. Use the 'Search' function to look for past threads containing info you need. The type of questions you are asking have been discussed numerous times. Also one of the most important things I have found is to use good media, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Fuji, etc (made in Japan) are some of the names that come to mind. A good source is; http://www.supermediastore.com/index.html Watch for their 'shipping included' specials for good prices. good luck PS; when backing up something like this (Episodic series like 'Sopranos', '24' etc.) it might be best to 'split' the disks. That is if there are four episodes on one original put the first two on one disk and the second two on another. Shrink can eiisly do this and you will have no video compression and resulting loss of quality.
Since you have ripped the files and they are the correct size, you can use any burning program that you have CopytoDVD, Nero, CloneDVD or if they are ISO files then you can use CopytoDVD, Nero, CloneDVD, ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter or Sonic.
i inserted a DVD-R into my drive and tried to burn using the programs u mentioned and it says please insert a blank disk...i just bought the disks new and why does it say that...the dvd drive just makes noises and then stops, do u know why this is?
hey the media is KHypermedia.com, ther like $8 for 10 of em at compusa...i have a DVD Rom drive on my computer to play DVDs, can it also function to burn DVDs or do i need special hardware? thanzk
Nasty media, go to bestbuy or staples and for 15.00 you can get 50 sony, much better. And no a DVD-Rom is only a reader not a writer.
so i need to get a DVD writer? what type do u recommend, like the cheapest in price? do i need to buy an internal or external one...i have currently ripped the files to my laptop hard drive...thanzx
I have a Toshiba laptop, a Compaq laptop and also desktop computer...they all have dvd drives, how do i check to see if they can also WRITE dvds or if they are eqipped with DVD burning capabilities? thanks
That would be good to check and make sure just what your computers have. If you have Decrypter just go into the tools tab, drive and then capabilites, or just use your device mgr it will tell you
would i need to buy any of the two top dvd drives?= http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/catOid/-12973/Ntk/All/Ntt/dvd burner/rpem/ccd/categorylist.do
