hard drive of xbox

    what dvd drive comes with a brand new xbox,is it the thompson drive or the samsung,cause im hearing the thompson drive is not realible and the samsung drive is more superior

    depends on the version number of the xbox.ive got an 80GB maxtor hard drive in mine and a thomson dvd drive and mine works fine.

    most of the newer boxes i've seen have philips drives in them. most of the older ones had samsung, and those in between usually have thompson. for the past couple years it seems to have been a mix between thompson and philips. I think thompson's got the worst reputation, but i have seen a few that were fine and most likely still fine. on the other hand, i've had thompson drives go out within a year. as far as what it will read, yes the samsung has been far superior in my experience.

    my thompson work juts fine. Iv had it read DVD-R and DVD+R. and CD+RW

    btw truballa the thompson and samsung drives are DVD drives not hard drives, as for hard drives right now i think it western digital.
