The error says 'Database connection error'. “Helldoc” is the creator of SS Merger says someone hacked in and deleted all of the required MD5 codes. Here is the link where he says this

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s...0&#entry3808914

Does anyone have a solution to this problem I have run into? Im not sure how to backup my games without having the “required MD5 file”

Please help
not really a solution to the connection to a database error.. helldoc is working on getting another source going for the md5 checksum. you can go to ss.softmodfiles.net to look up md5's for now.

Thats what i have been reading, but is there any other way to backup my games without opening up my xbox? Im not experienced enough to do any type of firm ware hacks.

I do have the 7.5gb raw data extracted from one of my games. What process can i use to back my game up?

like i said im a noob, so bare with me :)

thanks, Steve

I saw this method on another website. It looked pretty good, but i got stuck on step number 4. Cant find XTREME_XP_PACK anywhere... Im not even sure what the hell it is.... Please help!!

the website is:

http://www.ss.softmodfiles.net/index.php?q=rip

Long But Reliable Way
Don't ask me why, but sometimes computers mess up. If your burn didn't work, or if you want to do your burn the safe way, do it the "sure-fire" way.

Instead of adding the security sector, SPLIT THE ISO:
1. Open the newest version of SS_Merger (link to the right).
2. Select "Tool" from the menu bar and click "ISO Splitter".
3. Select the ISO you created from wxRipper. Extract the "Game Partition" and select a save point. (make sure the settings for XBOX360 are entered, not xbox1)
4. Download XTREME_XP_PACK
5. Copy the game partition (SIZE: 7 135 744) to the "ISO Builder" folder for 360.
5. Rename the game partition ISO file "Game.iso".
6. Copy in the corresponding Security Sector to that folder, as well (You probably got the SS from our site, if not, please upload it to share with others).
7. Rename the Security Sector "ss.bin".
8. Run the "build360.bat" file and wait for it to complete.
9. You should have a IMAGE.000 file (SIZE: 7 395 392).
10. Burn the Game. You must have CloneCD for these steps.
11. Open CloneCD and select "Write from disc".
12. Select the "IMAGE.dvd" file from the "ISO Builder" folder.
13. Select the correct DVD+RDL Drive and choose 2-2.4x as the burn speed.
14. Click Burn
15. After the disc ejects itself, try it out. Hopefully you have a working backup! If not, check the Errors section

No, you NEED to open up your xbox 360 to apply the firmware patch so backups will work with your 360. it wont read them without the firmware hack or some kind of mod chip.

oh, and anything dealing with wx ripper involves hot swapping.. that means you need to take apart your DVD+R DL drive <pc rather than xbox 360 drive> to access the laser unit. here's a complete tutorial

I'm buying a Samsung SH-D162C kreon flashed from ebay. Once I use that to extract the xbox 360 game files, can I use ANY dvd DL burner to burn the back ups?

I know that the Pioneer 111D is the best option but I don't have money to buy one so im hoping my current dvd dl burners can work. Also, I haven't been able to find verbatim dls. Do you guys think TDK may work?

Also, will this method work with any hacked xbox 360? I paid a guy $40 to do it for me so I dont know what method he used to hack my 360.

uh yeah, i don't know why you'd want to use another DVD+R DL drive for burning.. the sh-d162c kreon drive will work. and if you paid someone to mod the 360 for you, im sure its firmware.

verbatims can be found in stores.. like compusa/bestbuy.. ebay has tons of'em too.

Hi all... i think i need some help but don't know where to start.
I'm a total noob with not much time to spare try to get this right.. i think i've got all the gear to do my back ups but can't get it right.
I've read a most of the pages in the forum but everything i'm trying seems to not work...i've got coasters for coasters.

Here are my problems...firstly i bought a 300gb drive with back up games already on so i didn't need to worry about ripping them. They are supposed to be patched and working but using my pioneer 110 and clonecd together although the pc says it's worked fine when i put it into the 360 it says unrecognisable disc.I've tried using different types of disc like Traxdata,Verbatims and Ridiscs but all the same result. My 360 is already Xtremed and works perfect so what could be wrong...i'm wondering if i need aspi layers for the drive or maybe the pioneer needs updating?
Has any one any thoughts on this one...i really could do with some help!
Secondly i then thought 'cos i couldn't get that working i'd get a Samsung SHD162C drive for my pc..all the reviews say it's a piece of cake to use with Schtrom 3.1...
As you can probably gather it's not working either.I can extract the image but when i go to burn it with clonecd it says "Error opening file layer break 1913760:the system cannot find the file specified"
Could this be caused by the Samsung drive Not having been flashed with Kreon 0.81 firmware or is it something i'm doing or is it back to a problem as above with aspi layers or firmware for my writer.

If anyone has had similar problems or somebody can throw some light onto these problems please do..i'd be very grateful if someone could..Cheers

Yes, i have a Globe 360 chip installed in my 360. And yes i have taken apart my DVD drive in my computer to perform the hotswap using wxripper. I have successfully extracted the raw data from one of my games, but im not sure where to go from here, because when I tried to load my ISO file into SS Merger v1.6 I received an error. The error says 'Database connection error'. Is there anything i can do with this raw data file to burn it successfully??

Please help! Thanks

Please help! Thanks
you can still patch it without checking the md5 number with ss merger. if it's NTSC just make sure you have a NTSC ss bin and patch it. the database is down as you already know. i haven't had any trouble blindly patching NTSC bins from ssmodfiles.net.

last there are things you can do.. especially if you've already modded the 360.. m$ will not take it back ;P instead of paying them 150$ to apply thermo paste.. can you do it yourself? just apply thermo paste to the gpu and cpu heatsink and you should be good. also, if you want, some people have removed the foil over the gpu and have gotten lower heat ratings. and of course if that doesn't work.. there is the hot air gun method. check utube for it, there's a complete video.. nothing too tricky, just have to be careful.

OK. some of this is going to fact, and some is going to be my personal thought.

Fact: You can play on XBox Live with the backed up games. I have not had a single problem with online play. At this time, there is no way for the XBox live service to know if your DVD drive is firmwared.

Fact: The firmware doesnt nothing to your XBox360 except change how the DVD works, your XBox360 console will never know that you changed the firmware.

My Thoughts: This is unfixable by xbox. They can't just brick all users of updated firmswares. a) I'm sure they would have done it already, it's not about what they figure out what to do or how to do it, they made this damn thing, they know everything about it. If they wanted to brick us with an update patch they would have done it. Theres been three XBox live updates since the firmware hacks started.... No updates to brick us though.

More Thoughts: They cant update the firmware by game like PSP either. I just don't think the firmware is editable by the XBox period, a) the hackers would have exploited this already b) microsoft would have fixed it already. Microsoft has published games since the firmware hack has been made with no firmware updates.

I'm pretty happy with my firmware hack, I can play any backup game, it boots almost instantly just like real games. Obviously I can't promise it won't get fixed somehow...

Right now we can mod XBoxes and the downside is we can't play on XBox Live.... If they fix XBox360 firmware, its the same boat. What would you rather do? Play online or free games? Each has its goodpoints. I like to play online personally but I don't want to pay a mortage payment to microsoft for the choosen games I want.
Juts 3 things.

1: Thank You

2: About the SS.bin link that you posted in the starting post of this thread, is dead.

3: I'm damn sure if they'd charge just $ 30-40 for games, heck even 25 the games could maintian that price for longer. Course that "is not the way the market works".

The game hacking would be reduced like hell...And now we have advertising form intel and the like on games, OMG, its like Cable TV all over agina, Cable Tv was meant to avoid watching freaking commercials!!

no, it's a usenet (newsgroup) provider, nothing like bittorrent, MUCH better IMHO ;)

see this link to learn about usenet and why you want to use it:

Sure, but it charges a fee.

make sure the image & the .dvd file are in the same dir. Also, make sure you're using the latest version of clonecd.

also, make sure the contents of your .dvd file looks something like this:

Quote:
LayerBreak=1913760
<image filename here>
where <image filename here> is the name of the image.

I don't Usenet, it uses me.

Hi Guy's, i'm all new to the 360 scene and had many problems myself, after many coasters and screaming at my pc i have found 2 easy steps, clonecd didn't work 4 me and i thought i was doing something wrong then a friend told me to use "imgburn" it's a carry on from where DVD Decrypter left off now up to now all i've done is down loaded the games (PAL in my case)to my harddrive, unrar them which give me 2 files, 1 which is the game and the other which is like a cue text, i load the cue text in to "imgburn" and burn onto a dual layer 8.5 DVD+R ridisc extreme disk and write it a 2x and thats it..everyone as worked fine for me and my dvd writer is only a lite-on usb external (sohw-1673s). hope this will work 4 you... i've been told but not tested it myself but "imgburn" can rip backup your originals just buy doing an image and writing it back... but don't quote me on that one

it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice
