I installed a dual layer burner and it came with Nero SW. I've been using Roxio so I have a bit of a learning curve here so please hang with me. When I launch NeroVision Express and import a mpg2 file to burn to DVD, I get an error that the file is too big for the DVD. When I look at the file size in Windows Explorer it's 3.6G. When I import into Nero it's recompiled to 8G. What in the world is Nero doing to the file to more than double it's size? Converting to AVI? Thought Nero supported mpg2 native? Second problem. While in NeroVision I can open disk information and select the VR DVD drive. Nero will confirm the 8G as available in the disk info window. Then, back out to NeroVision and it still only shows 4.7G. I continue to get a "file too big" error when using an 8G DVD to record a 3.6G mpg2 file. How do I get Nero to use the 8G that's available? Movie was recorded to the hard disk using an ATI All-in-Wonder card and SW. I've been to the Nero website and installed all the updates so the SW is current. Where do I go from here? Thanks for any help.
First thing I would recommend is that if you haven't already done so then uninstall Roxio.....Nero hates it.
Hmmm.......I prefer it to edit out commercials, etc. I haven't found Nero's editng very supportive. For example, I'd like to be able to play video to a frame and split. That split forms a new chapter. I then play through the commericals and delete left. The commercials are now omitted from the project and I'm on to the next chapter. Simple but it and works well. Nero may have something similar but I haven't found it. Has anybody out there been able to access 8G dual layer in Nero? Maybe we should start there, Roxio or no Roxio.
