Hi, I'm very sorry for posting the thread again from scratch, but the last one got took over from other peeps posting their problems on it too.

Everything I burn brings an illegal disc error. I've put the latest firmware on (finally discovered the SONY can be flashed with some Liteons), Nero 7, got rid of the Nforce 4 drivers at last (DMA now shows as on in the log yay), the media im using is also classed as supported at 4x, 6x and 8x by lite-on in the media report that was with the firmware. I've tried burning a smaller file (not an image either) and i got the same end result.

Also it burn CD-Rs fine, and the DVDs when rejected are burned on about 1/5 of the way, even thought it says it only did 1% when burning.

Not too much wrong in that log. Here is one thing:
It is now up to 7.0.1.4b so an update might help.
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

You are burning too close to the edge of the disc. Change the target size to Custom 4300, the setting is in Nero and Shrink under burn settings.
TDK media gives problems for many ppl, and you may be one of them. Try some verbatim or sony, fuji, maxell, last 3 made in japan.
Your firmware is up2date, your DMAs are all on. Can't see much else wrong. Give those things a try, and post back.

ok ill look again. the same error happened with a normal burn with only 2gig so dont think its the edge thing, always burned dvds that small without a problem in the past.

tis leaving me with those dics now, its a bulk pack and all the others worked, so ill be shocked if ive got a massive pile of duds after a good 20 or so were fine to start.

no luck.... ive brought some philips dvd discs and burned a 3gig file, exactly the same error! forgot to save the log tho.

I've tried a DVD-RW I had too Ive used before and that works tho, tried it in cd-dvd speed. dnt get how it can be incompatibile dvds though, how can it accept the ones ive used for ages then not all of a sudden if so?

    orius,
I keep forgetting to remind ppl to defrag HD. My suggestion was going to be for you to try GOOD media like Verbatim, but im glad you got it fixed. Seems weird that a fragged HD would give you an illegal disc error, but i've seen stranger things in electronics.
    Many happy burns to you!
