all right, for about 15 mths now ive had absolutely no issues with my dvd burner/nero software. Until about two weeks ago I had always used Sony, TDK or fujifilm blank media that had 8x on the disc. My wife bought a 100 pack of Fujifilm and a 25 pack of TDK dvd-r blank media with 16x on them instead of the 8x. Now when ever I try and burn a dvd via dvdshrink and nero or burn just a data dvd with nero, i get an error that say's illegal disc or something to that effect. For the longest time I thought there was something wrong with nero, or maybe my burner was acting up, but it burns music cds perfect. I looked thru the last succesful dvd we burned and the disc had 8x on the top of the disc, I cant burn a blank dvd with 16x on it for the life of me, im not really a noobie when it comes to burning dvds, etc. But I have a feeling the firmware for my dvd burner is out of date, nero was installed with my new dvd burner back in nov 2004. Ive been looking around Nero 6.6.?.? and can not find on nero where it says "update nero'.... any help would be greatly appreciated cheers
ok, let me hook you up then... http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php only do the first 2 updates... remove all traces of InCd if you have it installed... use this tool to remove... http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html and a tip, if may add.. just cuz your media says 16x rated does not mean it is wise to burn at 16x.. 4x is the norm here... and for 99% of the ones who do back up.. hope this helps..
You may need updated firmware to use the newer media. http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#710
