I'm trying to make a setup where I have a stand alone vcr that will play both pal and ntsc tapes into my pc. So I can make them into dvds and get rid of the tapes. Also would like to turn pal dvds into one of the drives, using shrink or decryptor , into ntsc in another drive. I thought my Nvidea 6800 ultra would hook up a vcr, but maybe its got only a tv out port??Any help appreciated.

What you need to get is an analog capture card. Connect the VCR to it and copy away!

I have just completed several video tapes to DVD. I am using a WinFast 2000XP capture card to transfer files to HD and from there it's a simple matter of burning the files (which mine convert to MPEG) to DVD using NeroVisionExpress 3 or 4.
I would recommend however to spend a few more $$$ and look at the Deluxe version. A very simple procedure to install card.
Once you have the images on HD check out guide by alkohol, in my sig.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definately getting a capture card. Theres the WinnFast 2000 deluxe, and a Pauggauge 250, or 350 I believe some people in here use. Theres some kinda Pinnacle too, You think ones better then the other or it don't matter. Thanks

There is a forum dedicated to this subject, I am happy with my WinFast but check out other forum to see what others think. Cheers and good luck.
