whenever i've gone to burn a dvd lately, the device buffer percentage keeps shooting up and down from 3% to 99% and anywhere in between and the write speed stays quite low. it's never done anything like this before. soemtimes after the burn my computer feels really slow. when i check the processes and CPU usage in ctrl+alt+del everything looks normal. a scan with norton anti-virus 2004 shows nothing (with complete updates). someone on irc mentioned i might have a rootkit, but what do i do to get rid of a rootkit if norton picks up nothing? does anyone know what my problem is?
thread teleported to relevant forum. sounds like your DMA settings have dropped to PIO. Check/fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm
