    Hi
I have an Ipod Movie 60 Gb - And so far never had problems with watching videos.

But I just uploaded TV episodes like 24 and Lost, and when watching them the picture frame freeze after 10-20 sec. and the sound disappears.
The movie continues after some seconds but the sound is gone.
When I make a fast forward, everything is fine again, but only for 10-20 sec.

I just updated the Ipod to version 1,1.
I don’t have problems with other movie (which also worked before).

Hope you can help me )

    Best regards
    Michael

If they are MP4 video, make sure the video is no higher than

    30 fps
    2.5mbps

and the audio no higher than 128kbps mp3 or 160kbps aac.

(Right click the video & scroll the dropdown to 'properties')

    Hmmm.
    In this case it is:
    Mpeg-4 Video, 368x208 pixels
    AAC Stereo LR, 48000 Khz
    Frames/Sec 23.98
    795,57 Kbit/Sec

Should be ok or not ?!?

All, I also have Frame Freeze now after the upgrade. Didn't prior.
Anyone have answers as to why this is happening?

It's the latest update (1.1) that causes this behaviour. Read the thread in the link below and convert it back to 1.0 through the use of ipod wizard and your original CD. Your videos will play normal again after taken the steps described. Nice catch, it doesn't erase your disk so your files are good to go when you've downgraded.

I just received my video ipod 1/20/06. Mine has ipod software version 1.1 installed. How would I downgrade to 1.0?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Here's how to "downgrade" the firmware back to one that actually works.

    For PC user...

As posted by imdaShiy/ i modified it....

There's another way to downgrade the iPod firmware and reinstall version 1.0 without formatting or losing the music/files on your iPod. (I believe this DOES NOT work for Mac users, sorry)

    1. Download iPodWizard here:
    sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=153441
(download the release, top link of the two)

    2. Extract the files, and launch the program.

    3. Put in your Original CD,
On The iPodWizard, Click Open Updater..
point to the CD, Program Files/ iPod/ updater exe

    4. Click Load on the iPodWizard

    5. Click on DownGrade Firmware

    6. Exit the Wizard

    7. Open the iPodupdater directly from CD/ Program Files/ iPod/ Updater.exe
it will said ur iPod is OutDated 1.1

    Click Update... instead of Restore....

and u will be back to 1.0

    yaa...... backlight is on..
    my video is working

nice one, thebuzz. Keep telling people to downgrade without explaining the process, lol.

I followed the downgrade directions and everything seemed to be fine. However, I'm currently stuck. I'm at the "your Ipod has been updated. Please leave the Ipod connected and wait while it completes the update process." It's been there for close to an hour. I clicked on Itunes and it doesn't recognize the Ipod. Is it safe to force the updater to quit?

Never mind; I just went through the whole reinstallation process, and just made sure I didn't ok the upgrade when Itunes loaded. Now my vids play perfectly!!!

I have just recieved my second ipod, (the first one had a problem with the screen).

On my new one I am having the problem described above. The video's freeze and the sound stops. As my ipod is quite new the version of the firmware on the disk is 1.1 so I can't downgrade to 1.0.

Any ideas how I can do this?

    Thanks

I downgraded by downloading and installing an older version of the iPod firmware from apple.com. (the version on the disc that came with my new ipod was the newest version 1.1)

After doing this it did solve the the sound/frame freeze problem of video's that I could get onto my ipod. However, there were still some video's that would not copy to my ipod from itunes. When I tried to copy them or sync them to my ipod it was say something along the lines of "this video can not be played on your ipod". I knew that these videos should work as I had put them on my old ipod successfully.

I tried re-installing iTunes but still had the same problem so then tried installing an older version of itunes. (6.1) After doing this the videos would copy to my iPod with no problems. I am therefore thinking there could also be a problem with the newest release of iTunes (6.2) Has anybody else had these problems?

    Thanks
