i use dvd decrypter than dvd shrink. burn with dvd decrypter. i got the latest firmware on my dvd burner. using nero 7. burning on sony dvd+r. the problem is when i burn. it will burn 1-3% than the dvd burner keeps going but the light is off and the screen freezes and i have to pull the power cable out and restart it. won't respond to any kind of input other than that. i got at least 50gb on my hard drive left and defrag the system. i notice my computer when i use other program has a little hesitation every so often. any ideas? i burned 8 dvds than all of a sudden it won't burn anymore. oh, i'm running a athlon 64 3000, msi motherboard, and a gig of ram. i'm pretty sure my system is up to date. any ideas?

sounds like a [bold]latest firmware[/bold] is your problem. I did the same thing with my old computer and I got so fed up with the DVD burner that I went and bought a new computer!!!! I didn't have to but I had the resources so I did! You might want to try to redo the firmware.... good luck.

i tried that three times. i highly doubt it's the firmware. i checked the dma and i have 3 primary ide channels. only one of them is using mode 5 but it's not the first primary ide channel though
