I have 2 drives...Lite- ON SOHW-1633S and 1673S. My 1633 fails when I try to do a burn, but works for anything else. I checked all the cables and they are all secure. I Reinstalled my IDE controllers already. Firmware is up to date I believe. I use REAL TY's. Hopefully you can read the Nero history below and come up with a solution. Really do appreciate this. This needs to be on, check out this link for info on how to turn it on. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB) you're burning too close to the edge, reset to burn 4300
Alright thanks for the help. I'm currently not by my PC. I normally don't burn to the edge but I did it for one movie only. I shrink to 4300. I have been through this guide before, mattter of fact just recently to uninstall and reinstall my drivers. The drivers were unsuccessful in reinstalling so I had to disconnect and reconnect my cables and then they successfully reinstalled. This link pretty much explains how to uninstall my drivers, but I will check my DMA Mode...Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens.
My DMA is turned on according to the pictures of the link you sent me. I'm not sure why it says my DMA is turned off. I just recently reinstalled my drivers as stated above. This is starting to get frustrating because I really need this drive to work, but I just can't seem to figure this one out. I have asked numerous people on here and it seems to have stumped everyone. This must be an odd error??? Anything you can do to help resolve this would be great...Thanks for the help!
thread teleported to Nero forum.. - that's ok as it's one of those virtual drives.... ...however the question marks below are saying the ATAPI drivers aren't loaded correctly so follow the DMA guide fully to removed the devices and they'll be redetected and the drivers can then be loaded properly ->
I just recently did this. When I uninstalled my drivers they had problems reinstalling so I opened my computer up and disconnected the cables to my drive and reconnected them and then it reinstalled properly. So I should do this again? How do I know that they installed correctly after I'm done? Considering my cables are now secure, they should reinstall with no problem now, correct? Thanks for the help
one more thing.... My 1673 is working perfect so I dont want to do anything with that one. How can I find out which driver is for my 1633???
you need to go here, as i have the same burner, the firmware is BSOY... you still have the stock firmware.... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934 follow the directions carefully to update.. remember, noting in the drive, keep the power on (duh) and open the .exe part, it will tell you how to go, select your drive, make sure its the 1633 and hit ok... oh, and before i forget... your nero is outdated, you need 6.6.0.18
I uninstalled my primary driver and when I restarted my computer an error pops up saying: "Driver is not intended for this platform". Ultimately it was unable to reinstall. I've had this problem for a long time now. A couple weeks ago I unplugged my cables and reconnected them and then they reinstalled, but I know they are still securely plugged in considering I just did it. What could be the problem? I have a pretty good feeling that whatever is causing this error, when reinstalling, is the reason my burns continue to fail on my 1633
From looking at your log it seems the atapi.sys driver is corrupt. From reading what you describe it sounds like it may be locked and can not roll back to proper version. I know 2 apps that will lock it and keep windows from rolling it back to good version. The 2 I know of are alkohol 120% and deamon tools. There is most likely others as well. If you have one or both those on the system remove them and then try again to get the driver to rollback. After it is back in working order you can reinstall 120% or dt or whatever app has it locked if you want.
If doing that still doesnt let the driver reinstall. You can run windows system file checker utility. To do this just go start / run, then type in sfc /scannow You will then be asked to insert your windows disk and it should repair any system files such as atapi.sys and any other system files it finds that needs repaired.
I uninstalled my Alkohol and tried to roll my driver back and it wouldn't do it. I then tried the system checker and I think I got it to work. I did a couple successful burns with my 1633, but how do I know that it is indeed fixed properly? Anyways, thanks for the help. This is the first time I was able to do a successful burn in months!
