Thanks for reading! I have a really crappy pc (emachines 366i2) and a really crappy job (low income). I want to upgrade my motherboard as I can not upgrade the processor. I do NOT want to replace the power unit yet or any of the ide devices. Is this possible? If so how do I find out what is compatible with my power unit and ide devices? Thanks for any input!
I have found some info on the computer in original specs. I have added a cd burner,an ethernet card, a hard drive, a modem, and some ram. Everything else is still the same as the original config. you'll have to find a p2/p3 board that will fit your case. the board size is miro atx as smaller than regular boards that are atx. the problem you might encounter is the connectors from front of case to motherboard.
Thank you for the quick response! As this is my first rebuild I'm somewhat confused by the front connectors as you called them. What exactly are they for? Do you mean where my usb ports and printer port is at? I know I may be asking to much but could you suggest have a specific mobo that would fit? Do you need more info? Thank you for your answers. the connectors i'm talking about is the power switch, power led that might be different from current motherboard.
well I didn't even think about that! Ok well I could just get another case eventually and that would be ok right? I mean I'm gonna look for a good micro board like you said and hopefully everything will line up but if not a new case will fix that problem I think. Thanks for the help! I agree with ddp. Getting yourself a new case will allow you to use just about any motherboard. Correct me if I am wrong, but that Celeron is a Socket 370? There should still be some sites around, including eBay, that may have those boards available.
I have no idea! I don't even know how to check! I just want to find a board at a reasonable price that will fit my case and/or my IDE devices. That's it. Thanks for your help guys!
I think my cpu is integrated into the board isn't it? It's just incredibly slow and I want to upgrade. I cant run windows 2000 much less xp and I cant run apps/games because of the processor. I want to basically build a computer around what I all ready have. I have a dvd burner and a cd burner that I want to keep and I would like to keep my case if I can. If I have to start from scratch I will but it will take me an incredly long time as I said earlier money is tight. I've been looking on newegg and tigerdirect even ebay but it's been really hard to find the board I want because I really dont know what I need in order to keep what I all ready have and have them function together. That is why I came to the experts.
cpu is not intergrated into motherboard as cpu is in a slot connector not socket. can keep all devices for new motherboard/case/psu. what budget do you have in mind?
