I've been using nero vision for about 3 years now and I've had my fair share of errors and problems. But nerver has it been so easy to see what the error is in the log file. Now that doesn't mean that I know how to fix the problem. i would try something other than Nerovision for this one, there's probably something wrong with the AVI itself/or Nerovision just can't handle the AVI for somwe reason. try one of the trial/free programs, like VSO divxtodvd, i think the software's still in the software section up top of page
