Hi there i recently purchased a toshiba laptop with a MATSHITA DVDRAM UJ-841S burner in it. When i burn a dvd I am only able to burn at 2x speeds when the burner specs for dvd-r are 8x? I notice when there is no media in the drive it tells me i can burn at 8x which is normal and when i put a blank dvd in the drive it tells me i can only burn at 2x and it take about 25 minutes. I have tried to two types of media so far..maxell's and optodiscs and are both rated for 8x. Is there anything i can do to start burning faster?

    Thank You.

I have recently bought a Toshiba laptop and can not get the DVD drive to write at all. It will not recognize a DVD-RW or a DVD+RW disc. Can you please let me know what program you use to burn a DVD and what type of media you used? I am able to burn CDs and play DVD discs. Thanks!

Are you sure that your laptop has a DVD burner and not just a CD burner with a DVD player?
