I converted a some avi files to DVD with VSO DivXtoDVD, then made a menu with DVD-Lab. When I watched the dvd, the subtitles at the bottom of the screen were too low and you couldnt read/see them. How do I fix this?
No idea, but I don't see how that would really affect it. I just found out you can raise the subtitles from the bottom of the video with divxtodvd, but I'm not sure if that'll do anything because the subs are part of the avi file, not seperate.
Anytime you edit, you change the file structure of the DVD. A change in the structure is exactly how the problem has come about, whether the DVDLab editing did it or there is another cause (either internal or the way the equipment interprets the structure). Since DVDLab was used to alter the structure, it would make sense to see if there was the problem you mention in the original source before editing. Simple enough question, did DVDLab cause the problem or not. Then you need to use a viewer, if possible, to check the original AVI files before conversion with DivXtoDVD. At what point did the error show up or was it there from the start?
Well the only time that I can't see the subtitles is on the dvd, and has been that way since the first copy I burnt. When I watch the compiled dvd on the computer, I can see the subs fine, all of the video is visible. But when I watch the dvd on dvd players, that's when the problem occurs. Only with TVs. I'm a little hesitant to continue trying to burn a bunch of them with different details changed, because I'm running low on dvds and have used a couple trying to fix this already. EDIT: I tried converting them to a 4:3 (fullscreen), which still didn't work. There's an option for 16:9 (widescreen)which I haven't tried, but I'm thinkin this might work. Will it?
Actually, I'm having the same problem. I converted some Bleach episodes (anime) to a DVD using NeroVision Express and now when I watch them on my DVD player, the subtitles are so low I can only see the upper half of them on my screen. Just like Maxican, when I watch them on my computer I can see them perfectly. Can anyone help us with this problem?
Well when I used divxtodvd, and chose the 16:9 output option, you can see the whole screen, but there is a 1-2" black border around the picture, making it a bit small. The episodes aren't too small to read, but if you have a small TV screen, it may be a little hard. If we can't figure out any other way, I suggest just doing this.
Actually I played it on my bigger TV (36 inch) and I can see the subtitles a little better. They're still kind of cut off (the bottom quarter of the subs can't fit) but I can still make them out. I guess it depends on what TV you're using to watch it.
Most tvs cut off a nice chunk of video so avi files that have hard subtitles (not sure if that is what they are called) will most likely not make it or show up properly. For that I just add a nice black frame around my video, enough so that it is the only thing my tv cuts off & I can read my subtitles just fine. Takes a bit of experimenting though.
