Ok I am looking into buying a new computer but not for probaboly a few months. Any way I'm starting to do a little bit of shopping and am still udecided on which way to go, AMD and Intel. I know many of you like AMD alot but I am not a gamer so i wouldnt need one for that. Any I could get the new Pentium D 920 for about $260, or the AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice core for about $280. The 920 looks great, runs cool, 27 celsuis at full load according to some people. Now my question is would it be worth it to spend and extra $20 to get the AMD even though it's a single core? Would outperfrom the Intel?

PS: I have never used and AMD processor as my own computer, but it is great according to many of you guys.

Not necessarily a comparison as per your request. A single core, vs a dual core?

If you want, you'd have to put up the AMD X2 3800+...to go up against the P4 920. They go for around $320.00.

So far, AMD still has the lead on performance, and I think you'd like the AMD chip.

An AMD Athlon X2 is better than a rival intel in absolutely every respect.
