Hi, I have a sony camcorder (TRV10e) with a DV (iLink) connection. I like to capture video on my laptop. I have an authoring program (adobe premier) but when I connect the camcorder to the computer using DV cable my computer doesnt recognise the camcorder.
Do i need a driver of some sort for it ?

    thanks

No, you should not need a driver and your camcorder should be recognized automatically upon connection. First thing to check is if the camcorder shows up in the device manager when it is connected (with the camcorder power on and set to VCR mode).

    thanks for the reply.
the problem is that the camcorder does not show up in the device manager at all although my firewire seems to be configured fine. I say this only because firewire shows up in the device manager and since I am using a labtop computer I'm assuming I havent missed any firewire driver installation etc..

    Please help ...

If your camcorder does not show up in the device manager, there is probably a hardware failure: either the card, the cable or the camcorder.
