toshiba dvd-rom not reading

    my toshiba dvd-rom is not reading dvds, the ready light flashes a few times and then just goes solid. but will read any cd-rom or music cd, kinda pissin me off. does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

    All DVDs? Store bought pressed movies, data, DVD-Rs?
    If none are recognized, you prob need a new drive. Mine did the opposite - quit reading all types of CDs, even though still read DVDs. New drive solved problem.

    hey thanks alot for the advice!!! i was thinking new drive as well but wasn't 100% sure, but ya it won't read store boought, data or dvd+,-,rw, etc.

    With burners so inexpensive, you may want to go with a second, but more up to date, burner. Use the older burner as your reader.
