I have modded my xbox for halo 2 and all that and now I am banned. Can anyone explain to me how I might be able to avoid this and how this works.

    Thanks in advance

Microsoft detects modifications in your xbox once you connect to their server. This results in an automatic ban. The only way you can become "unbanned" is to get a new eeprom.

I think there was some misunderstanding. I am only banned from halo2 because I was softmodding and when i signed off and got back on I couldn't play matchmaking anymore. So could anyone tell me how to avoid this and how it works.

Is ur XBOX chipped or softmodded? Your box can't be chipped or softmodded while on XBL. If it's chipped u should have a switch to have the chip on/off. If it's softmodded u need to have softmodded with SID4 with open=retail when u installed it. Basically, the server for Halo 2 is detecting ur mod.

Go to xbox-hq.com U can get SID4 from there. SID4.5 will be out soon as well. You can get more details from that forum. I don't get on XBL so I can't tell u in detail but I know it works.

Ok.. Obviously these noobs dont understand the question you're asking... they i guess dont realize that we're not talking about softmodding the xbox itself.. we're ftp'ing maps that we've manipulated to our xbox in order to cheat on halo 2... HE IS ONLY BANNED FROM MATCHMAKING NOT XBOX LIVE YOU GUYS SO STOP GIVING HIM USELESS INFO THAT YOU HAVENT TESTED YOURSELF! :)

Anywho, I have the same problem.. i was banned from matchmaking for modding on halo 2, and as of yet i havent found the solution for unbanning your gamertag from matchmaking... The good news is I"M 10000% sure IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE.. I"VE READ IT AND SEEN TUTORIAL VIDEOS... the bad news i cant find these tutorials anymore.. so keep searching and i promise theres a way....

There is bound to be some files you can ftp into your box and delete because it doesnt stop you from playing matchmaking until you get that update... it's gotta be as simple as finding what needs to be deleted... (kinda like when you ftp'd the maps to your xbox to mod!)

Dont worry! It's possible keep trying.. i havent figured it yet either but we willllll!!

hope this gives you a glimmer of hope! :D
