what the hell is wrong with my laptop! i posted here a few days ago with errors i got when trying to burn disks using nero. i was told by someone on here.it was probably down to using crap media. so here is a list i have since tryed i have tryed TDK DVD+R 1-4X MAXELL DVD+R 1-8X TDK DVD+R 1-16X DATAWRITE TITANIUM DVD-R 8X (which is the only ones iv ever needed to buy before now) SONY DVD+R 1-8X MRDVD DVD-RW 2X BULKPAQ DVD-R 8X the dearest were the sony which were around £15 for 5 disks.. iv now sat here since 930am and now its 310am lol..and i still havent managed to burn a dvd..BUT..iv managed to burn the cheapest crappiest god damn cd-r you can buy.. so if its crap media causing problems why could i burn a cheap cd-r but not an expensive dvd.. i desperately need to make backups of stuff on my system so need to use dvds...but what do i do
dont know if i have helped you yet... but what are you trying to do? what are you burning? what burner do you have? whats the file type? what speeds are you burning at?
well i have a Hitachi LG electronics DVD+RW/DVD-RW ATAPI firmware is up to date have even emailed the manufacturer to be sure cos its seriously peeing me off im simply trying to put some files onto dvd..so i can remove them from my system files are mixed types.such as zip, rar, pdf etc i have tried at every speed possible..from 2.4 up to 16 it cant be media..iv more or less ruled that out by trying just about every make the shop sells lol. and plus i can burn onto a cheap cd-r so what i need to do is figure out why i cant burn onto dvds anymore?
Your firmware is not up to date. You may be waiting a good while for cybermaxx to release any updates for the oem drive in your laptop if they ever do. Keep e-mailing them and pitching a fit. Because the same drive in the dell and fujitsi and other laptops have been updated a few times from 101 to I think 107 or maybe even newer now. Do they even have a web site? If so could you post a link to it here? I am finding it is getting poor ratings from users on the net. One user give it mixed rating with Ritek G05 disks. If you can find some of them give them a go until a firmware update is released for your drive.

We would suggest that you try the following: Remove the drive from device manager and shut down the system. 1) Disconnect the drive from the computer by disconnecting the IDE cable. * 2) Restart your computer and allow Windows to start. Once Windows has fully started, again shut down your system * 3) Re-Connect the drive by connecting the IDE cable to the drive. * 4) Restart you computer and allow Windows to start. Once started, check the drive has been detected and see if the problem is now resolved. * NOTE: if you are not sure about going inside you computer you can skip steps 2 to 4. What the above will do is force Windows to reinstall the drivers for your unit and this should rectify you situation if the problem is due to the drivers.
