With a lot of players when they say MPEG-4, they mean XviD/DivX in an avi.

You could remux the video to avi using say mp4box/yamb, the audio you should probably just re-encode from the DVD. Otherwise demux the audio and convert to mp3, then mux with the video.

You need to go to advanced settings and select your device and choose if you want to be able to play back only on the LCD screen or TV. TV setting means bigger files. You can also adjust the video and audio and sliders to get a smaller size. You need to play around with it a little.

Does anyone know if this will work with a Audiovox PVR-1000. The pvr saids it can read ASF format, which I believe is MPEG4? I converted a dvd to MPEG4 with Nero, and loaded it to the PVR, but it can't see the file. I was wondering if PocketDivXEncoder would work? Also what device would I say I was using (in PocketDivXEncoder).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

ASF is a container. Basically the same thing as WMV. Generally such files use MS MPEG-4 which isn't ISO MPEG-4.

Thanks celtic_d, I finally figured it out yesterday. I used PocketDivXEncoder to create a msmpeg4. I tried dragging it over into the pvr folder. It could see it, but it just looked like a bad reception (a bunch of colored lines). Unfortunately the multimedia converter program that came with the device doesn't appear to be working. It always errors out and there is no help section. Not even a description of the error. Do you happen to know of a way around this, or what the convertor is doing, and maybe I can use another program to side step.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Can you convert a MPEG-4 video file to an avi file? I'm not very technical so 'easy language' would be great.

    Thanks in advance
